Here's How You Can Help End The Genocide:
The IU Divestment Coalition has issued a set of demands to the university. Here's how you can help ensure those demands are met.
As we wind down the semester, the genocide continues to intensify. Though Amnesty International has officially labeled Israel’s attacks on Gaza a genocide, America and its institutions, including Indiana University, still support the carnage. It is incumbent on us to fight back where we can. The IU Divestment Coalition — of which PSC is a key supporter— has issued a set of demands to IU Administration, asking them to respond by the start of the spring semester on January 13. These demands fall under four main calls: disclose, divest, resign and restore. You can read more about the petition and our actions here.
In order to ensure that the university will address our concerns, we need people power.
That’s where you come in.
There are numerous opportunities to get involved for the movement for Palestine! We detail some below:
The Popular University for Gaza
The Popular University For Gaza is our main vehicle for educating and mobilizing the IU community about issues for Palestine. The most integral part of expanding our presence is building up organizers to speak and teach about Palestine in order to reach the wider IU community about our actions, demands and events.
This involves signing up for tabling shifts, building connections with other organizations, furthering your own education, and helping us to ensure that our events and actions are well attended! As our organization builds power at IU, the Popular University serves to subvert and reimagine the existing university structure.
PSC encourages all who can to enroll in the Popular University for Gaza. Fill out the form here and wait for us to reach out about onboarding.
Write for our Newsletter
Our media team will continue releasing organizational announcements, updates from the Middle East and analysis about the movement for Palestinian liberation. We hope to be able to expand our capacity with new writers!
If you have any pitches related to these topics or original content you believe would be relevant to the PSC newsletter, click the link here to submit.
Become a Community Liaison
IUDC needs your help as a community liaison! If you are involved in a student organization, residence hall, culture center, or other center of community, or well connected within your department, school, or research center, this could be relevant to you.
This role entails talking with your community about IUDC’s demands and objectives, sharing IUDC resources and information about upcoming events or actions, answering questions your community may have about IUDC’s mission and history, and asking your community what IUDC can do to support them. Sign up and learn more about this role here.
RSVP to Upcoming Events
During the Spring Semester, PSC will be hosting weekly events. In the past, these have included screening movies about the history of Palestine, art-making and learning about Palestinian artists. We have a standing RSVP link that will be updated with future events here.
The goal behind all of these events is to build community and fundraise for families in Palestine, including baby Wessam El Sabea and his parents, teacher Heba and her 21 family members, and Abdullah and his young daughters. You can read more about their story and donate by clicking the links.
Organizers on campus are always looking for more ways to grow the movement and connect with the community around us. As we demand for the university to cut their ties with genocide and continue our fight for Palestinian liberation, we ask that you join in any way you can.
