We continue reading about the 1948 Nakba.
The Palestine Solidarity Committee is continuing out Palestine reading group This Friday, Jan 26 at 6:30PM at Ballantine 143. There will be a zoom option available!
We are continuing our look into the 1948 Nakba. The text will be selections of The Ethnic Cleansing Of Palestine by Ilan Pape (2006)
Chapter 4 (49-71) - This section looks at the methodology of cleansing.
Chapter 5 (105-145), This chapter goes deep into Plan Dalet, the Zionist plan for ethnic cleansing in 1948.
Chapter 11 (250-261) - This section looks at Nakba denial and the history of the “peace process”
A good supplementary text on Zionism is Norman Finkelstein’s review of Benny Morris’s Book, 1948 and After (1990) in chapter 3 of his book Image and Reality Of The Israel-Palestine Conflict (1995). This text confronts the idea that the Nakba was “born of war” rather than the stated intentions of Zionist colonizers.
