IU DIVESTMENT COALITION 6/27 CALL TO ACTION
Help IUDC rebuild their Gaza Solidarity Encampment that was destroyed by the recent storm.
Join Them Tomorrow to Clean and Rebuild
The Liberated Zone will not be moved! They remain steadfast in their demands and solidarity with the Palestinian people. No amount of storms or bad weather will deter them.
The encampment needs help tomorrow, June 27, from 12:00 PM to 5:00 PM. They will clean and rebuild their encampment, The Liberated Zone.
Your support is crucial as they continue their principled stand for Gaza and the Palestinian people.
Why The Liberated Zone Matters
The encampment follows in the footsteps of other universities nationwide, taking a firm and principled stand for Gaza.
For the past seven months, “israel” has unleashed an abhorrent genocide, resulting in over 100,000 Palestinians being martyred, maimed, or injured, including over 14,000+ children. This genocide is the culmination of 75 years of the Zionist settler-colonial project. “israeli” occupation forces have committed numerous atrocities, including mass executions, forced starvation, and sexual violence against Palestinians.
The Liberated Zone demands an end to the genocide in Gaza. They stand in solidarity with other liberators’ struggles on campus, such as the April 1986 shanties in Dunn Meadow, which protested apartheid in South Africa.
The IU Divestment Coalition’s Demands
1. End the Crane Partnership: IU has invested $110 million in a partnership with Crane Naval Base, which develops weaponry used in Gaza.
2. Resignation of IU Administration: They demand the resignation of Pamela Whitten, Rahul Shrivastav, and Carrie Docherty for their complicity in the genocide and repression of pro-Palestinian organizing.
3. Financial Transparency, Divestment from “israel,” and Adherence to BDS: They demand IU be transparent with its investments, divest from “israel,” and adhere to the Boycott, Divestment, Sanctions (BDS) movement.
Their encampment is a step towards creating a Popular University for Gaza, challenging the status quo, and working towards the liberation of Palestine and all oppressed peoples. IUDC adheres to the Palestinian Thawabit, asserting redlines such as the right to self-determination and the right of Palestinian refugees to return.
